TOURS & SPECIAL EVENTS

OPEN FARM DAY 2007
The Buffalo Farm Is Having An Open House! Here is your chance to see our buffalo herd of 50 plus animals, mothers and babies, our 2000 pound breeding bull Durango, and take advantage of our beautiful view of the Piscataquis River Valley.

Mark your calendars for the fourth Sunday in July to come visit us here at Breakneck Ridge Farm.

We plan on having our chuck wagon serving buffalo burgers, buffalo chili and buffalo kabobs. Picnic tables and bathroom facilities are available. Once you've got your tummy filled, wander around the farm to check out our display of antique farm tools, take pictures of your kids on our 1928 jitterbug, and browse through our gift shop.

Plan on catching a hayride, which will run every hour on the hour. We'll be open from 10:00 to 4:00 p.m.

There is nothing prettier than the view from our farm and fields dotted with buffalo!

Maine Maple Sunday – The fourth Sunday in March.

Come smell the aroma of the maple syrup cooking over the wood fire. Sample some maple tea, maple syrup over ice cream and other maple treats.

Our Chuck Wagon will be available for lunch featuring real buffalo burgers, buffalo chili, hot dogs and pancakes.

We always have a good time, come join the fun! We will be open Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23, 2008 from 10 am to 2 pm. Go across the bridge in Blanchard and follow the signs.

A Unique Gathering Place
We welcome the opportunity to host your family reunion, wedding, reception, company picnic or other social gathering. Local catering and entertainment can be arranged.

Let our view of Russell Mountain and the Piscataquis River Valley be the backdrop for your special day.

We are very much into conservation here on the farm, as most of you know that have visited. Steve is President of the Maine Association of Conservation Districts and Vise President of the Northeast Region of the National Association of Conservation Districts.

These are volunteer positions, which has Steve traveling throughout the summer. At these meetings we discuss national conservation policies and how we, as a nation can be better stewards of the land.

Our gift shop will be open when we are here, so you can still purchase some of our great tasting Maple Syrup, Buffalo Meat, and a few other goodies.

Buffalo

Tour Price
Adults $7.00
Children (3 to 12) $5.00
Seniors $6.00
Minimum charge for a group tour is $60

We will be doing a limited amount of private tours by special arrangement all year round. If you have a group, organization, school or even a family who would like a private tour, give us a call Toll Free 1-866-ME-SYRUP.

Your tour will start in the buffalo barn and see how we handle the animals. We will go right though the facility just like the buffalo, which includes getting weighed. This is always popular with the kids, some of the adults tend to by-pass the weight chute.

We then will go across the road to talk about hay and haying. Here you will have the chance to handle some square bales, either picking them up or rolling them like our granddaughters used to.

Next comes either a hayride on the hay wagon or a ride on the antique 1928 jitterbug going up to the sugarhouse. Here you will learn how we make maple syrup while you enjoy our maple syrup over ice cream.

At some point along the way, we will take a little jaunt to check out the adult buffalo with their babies.

Then it’s back to the barn where we will call up the younger buffalo with a bucket of grain. This tour will last around one to one and a half hours. We will try to answer all your questions as well as helping to make happy memories.

Thank you to all who have visited the farm, became friends and have enjoyed our special products raised and made at Breakneck Ridge Farm.
